nice control underneath by JT. Nice Transistion at about 7:50 from the bottom to the top. The other guy did it too right after and then got a little crazy driving him out. Beautiful try for the triangel around 9 mins. Now it is crazy near the end. The other guy must know about JT taking the back. He still prevailed. GREAT JOB

He’s doing well. I think he’s got a chance to be the champion. However, when I watch Sergio Moraes, Garcia, or Kron I can’t help thinking it’s not JT’s time yet.
Yeah you’re correct, please don’t compare him to those guys yet. JT knows that it’s going to be a process to become a World Champion just like Kron is going through now. But trust me when I say that JT will surprise some guys that he’s ‘not supposed to beat yet’, very soon.

Every time I watch JT I relearn what tools I have to pull from.. and get to see in action how they can be used in a match.
I just love the way JT is able to go for so many options…I see how valuable having a good partner(s)and proper drilling makes ALL
the difference in winning and losing. Is there anyone willing to train me in Los Angeles?

man that looked like a close match, the other guy used his legs extremely well and had good takedowns, Jt kept his cool and prevailed.
JT is showing great technique. These are the kind of matches he needs to continue to grow. The more I see footage of him, I know for a fact that Master Lloyd has him on a direct path to reaching his goal of Black Belt World Champion. To the poster who mentioned that they cant see jt in same field as marcelo,sergio moraes or kron. What you fail to see is that JT Is not grappling a name, a popular name he is grappling another jiu jitsu practioner. JT is in that same field and if one of these guys underestimated him they would be on losing end of a submission or decision. keep it rolling JT…and Master Lloyd.

“Position before Submission”
That was a beautiful match. At 7:47 JT literally stops and looks at his coach then gets swept right after. It’s not a good idea to look at your coach just listen and pay attention to the match.

In our system Sam we do teach our guys to look at us for instruction in grappling. In MMA we don’t teach them to do that, they just have to listen. In grappling when you get to a stable control position you’re allowed to look over for instruction. If you watch many of the high level black belt matches you’ll see all of the top guys looking over to get instruction when they end up in a stuck point. Thanks for your input though, it’s greatly appreciated
I liked how relaxed JT appears throughout much of this match. I’m hoping that the continued experience of training, drilling and sparring will bring me to the level where I can conserve more energy by being able to relax more. Nice match JT!
JT has a lot of potential.. team irvin is really churning out high quality fighters and they’re getting younger by the minute.. JT has the qualities of a top fighter calm and relaxed and focused and very controlled application of techniques..

I love the matches that are like this. but most people hate them thinking that they are boring, and not realizing these are far more technical than others. Nice job I was on the edge of my seat. wtg JT
