If you liked it, if you didn’t like it, if you loved it, just let me know that you’re alive!
Great fight JT against a monster! You were active from the bottom the whole time!
cyborg was tough! that inverted guard he was doing earlier looked pretty dangerous.
Thank you for sharing the match. You look like you had prepared for the match. You also look like you belong in the division. Keep up the good work. God bless.
I actually love watching technical matches like this! JT did great against a good opponent. It was a chess match, and it lets you see how technical the really high level guys are.
Man that was hard to follow. You guys were so subtle & the fact that he had a black gi on did not go well on my less than stellar monitor. I could tell some of what went on, but I need to work on my gi stuff so I can get more out of this. Still very interesting. Good luck JT!
I JUST LOVED IT! It is an example of two figthers on an epic fight.
He got crazy knee. I would probably tap myself if my knee went that way
good match, roberto “cyborg ” is a beast , good technique go carlson gracie jiu jitsu and de la riva
Thing is – if JT would train using the 10th planet system he would have more success in his matches. For everyones information – the 10th planet system will take anyones skills to the next level. Its simple see – by using eddie bravos technqiques JT would be much better than he is now, its just that simple. Eddie Bravo defeated Royler Gracie in 2003 who was undefeated at that time – I would suggest JT purchase Eddie Bravos books and materials and DVD’s and also review Ari Boldens videos on submissions 101.
great match. i have a hard time with the inverted guard, but watching jt handle it gave me a few ideas. great job and thanks for the vids. cant wait to see his next match.
you did great, i personally thought you should’ve won the match…the guy started to hold the guard pass (no surprise..stall). you have a really bright future in bjj can’t wait to see your next tourny matches… keep training…
rolo
that was an awesome display of jiu jitsu against a bigger opponent! good work jt!
very nice jt. you totally held your own in that match. you’ll get him next time
Steve sucks. Good video- good technique.
I would not characterize that match as being boring. It was a very good example of a very tactical battle between two very skilled grapplers. JT kept very busy while playing guard and he was in the match the whole time. One or two little shifts in momentum and he could have come out the winner. Great job JT.
Beautiful technical match. Cyborg looked bigger, but JT was active as hell. What’s great to know, is that JT will just get better and better. I shudder to think what kinda monster he’ll be when he’s just 25.
lookt lyk “cyborg” uses a stalling gameplan. weak. good job on pushing the pace jt.
JT,
Shake it off…live and learn! Your performance was excellent against that bigger dude. Good match, can`t wait to see more in the future. Coach Irvin keep the clips coming!
Thank you!
JT Awesome match against a great apponent. Looked like you could have taken it at any time. Looked for a moment like you could’ve gone for the double leg take down when he had his back to you right before the restart. I think you would’ve had those 2 points. Great Job always enjoying watching your matches.
For the guy talking about Bravo’s stuff…yes it’s good, but it’s not invincible…Eric Paulson destroys 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. Also, Lloyd Irvin is no dummy, I am sure he has his fighters train many different useable aspects of many different styles.
Great Job JT.
Boricua that was good ,but you have to step up your game and go all out against these guys some of them just want to score points. All you have to do is go for the gusto win or lose its a better result and you will feel better than playing a safe game and then losing to something corny as an advantage when clearly you were more aggresive in that match just say to yourself i rather go out on fire than die in a fire of smoke inhalation you get me You are the number one boricua in this my brother keep up the good work
Wow!JT thanku for sharing the awesome display of jiujitsu. There was so much subtlety in your match which was really great for me to see and learn from. Thanks for the video…keep up the great work.
yo! you should be very proud of yourself, that cat is one of the best in the game! NICE JOB BRO!
I LOVE ALL THE CLIPS POSTED.1st loss, well got that out of the way!
Did you plan to work (a strategy) and then work your plan? old sale management saying. Way to give your opponent trouble.
hello,
coach torres, that was a tremendous match. tough when an opponent is playing the stalling game, though.
still… BACK ATTACK ATTEMPT!!! very nice.
all in all, a fine example of some jiujitsu.
thanks
Great job TJ, it looked tuff and i bet it was. I hope to see more!
Not alot of action but good match. Cyborg is very strong and aggressive, always on offense but this match JT had him on the defense the whole time! Cyborg didn’t want to really push the action, he seemed content with staying and stalling at times. JT was very calm and seemed not to be tried.
1st OF ALL , Jt was robbed i think cuz cyborg was awarded points near the end when they both pulled guard, you can even hear team loyd irvin yelling in the back that JT pulled guard. Yet in the bill cooper – cyborg fight they both do the exact same thing and bill asks the ref , and i quote ” whoever comes out ontop gets the advantage right ?” and the very same ref says yes…… but that’s jiu jitsu for ya , sometimes if u dont tap your opponent, you don”t win……
allso its like Dave camarillo said in his book, ” you don”t have to be good at jiu jitsu to be a world champion, all you have to do is stall” ……
Achei q vc deu mole no raspa q levou no começo da luta !
JT used some great leg work early on in preventing cyborg from passing his guard. It did look like JT was pulling guard when cyborg scored, hard to actually see if it was the right call or not. Weren’t there any leg lock submission attempts available early in the match when both players legs were tangled? Good technical match with JT initiating most of the action.
jt learned more with that early lost than he would of learned if he had won.Years from now this fight is going to benificial for his titles that will be manifested in near future.
Well….at least you didn’t get submitted.
Always good to watch a good technical match like this. Though in this case some of the action was very subtle and difficult to actually see at times. Thank you for share this match. I am always watching trying to glean what I can.
Much praise JT. Keep ur head up bro it’s only a matter of time!!
JT showed a more dynamic BJJ. However he made two mistakes that cost his victory:
1st: He gave away two points pulling guard (50/50) when he was on the top and the other guy was already making guard.
2nd: He did a beautiful move almost getting to his opponent’s back. Since he was on the bottom if he had held the grip on the opponent’s back even without the hooks he could have got two points for a sweep.
Congrats to his opponent and best luck for JT next time.
